Project labs Unreal AI Lab
The body, movement and digital worlds
Unreal Engine as a space for gameplay, physics, animation, VFX, light and sound. Plus a second layer: body → movement → technology → digital space. Here technology doesn’t cut people off from their bodies; it helps them explore that relationship.
Small project group · up to 12 students
What students do
- With help from AI, they build 3D environments and gameplay in Blueprints, tackling physics and camera work.
- They work with materials, light, sound, animation and Niagara VFX.
- They record their own movement with motion capture and transfer it onto a digital character.
- They explore physical space, body awareness and the digital representation of people.
Possible outcome
A playable scene or a short video from a digital world that also shows the students’ own movement.

Suitable formats
- Workshop 90–120 min (less suitable)
- Project day 1 day (suitable)
- Intensive programme 2–5 days (suitable)
- Project block weeks (suitable)
- External studio semester + (suitable)
- Online / hybrid in person only
Technical requirements
Computers with a dedicated graphics card, or shared workstations for teams. For motion capture, a camera and some open space are enough.
Group size
Small project group: ideally 6–10 students, 12 at most.
A smaller group leaves room for individual guidance, conversation, experimentation and genuine teamwork instead of a lecture-style workshop. Larger groups can be worked out case by case, for example by splitting students into several project teams or blocks.
